I believe in the power of relationships and innate, inner resilience. The wisdom teachings of contemplative practice and contemporary research in neuroscience show us that our nervous systems, vis-a-vis the brain/mind, heart/affect, and body/soma, have real impact on those around us, and when we are emotionally regulated and centered, we can better attune and attend to ourselves and to those around us. This is especially true for parents in supporting their children when they struggle with emotional dysregulation, and within intimate partnerships when relational dynamics give rise to charged emotions and deep vulnerabilities.
By supporting my clients through meditation mentoring and/or therapy, my goal is help individuals and family members navigate the emotional weather and day-to-day challenges of relational life, access their own innate clarity and spiritual resource, as well as to gain insight into and skillfully work with reactive patterns that may be getting in the way of being in more loving and compassionate connection with others. Histories of relational wounding and trauma are also salient issues I work with. Research and neuroscience has shown how trauma lives in the body. We need more than language to access the deeper layers of wounding, which is why I believe so strongly in the power of mind-body practices and embodied somatic integration with talk therapy to facilitate healing and transformation.
As a therapist, I believe you have the wisdom and capacity to heal within you. I will work collaboratively with you or your family to gain deeper clarity in the challenges you face, and to find new pathways to healing. My goal is to support you in developing multiple resources to foster you in becoming your own healer.
As a meditation mentor, I strive to make mindfulness practices meaningful for each family and useful for their specific contexts, and will tailor each program to their particular needs, considering daily routines, home life, and living environment.
Through the development of mindfulness practice & skills, some of the benefits you and your family may experience include:
Whether your family needs support in managing the many demands of life in order to be more connected, starting or sustaining a mindfulness practice, or working with reactive patterns to allow for greater understanding, compassion, and ease, contact me to discuss how mindfulness and compassion practices can help.
